I ABHOR THE PICKLE.
Seriously. I think William Langland said it best:
There smites nothing so sharp, nor smelleth so sour as a pickle.
Well it was something like that. The point is, in case you didn't quite get it yet, is I hate pickles. I hate their smell, their look, their taste. One of my biggest pet peeves is to be at a restaurant and have a pickle and its juice splashed all over my plate. It makes the buns soggy, ruins the fries, and pretty much makes me want to smash my fist through the table. Ok, that last part isn't true, but it does tend to make me a little cranky. Especially because I've been on this world long enough to know that many places serve pickles on the side (why? why do they do this??). I also know well enough that it will ruin my meal, so I always tell the server "NO PICKLE ANYWHERE PLEASE" so when I get served and there is pickles it does not a happy Bambi make.
Oh the horror...

Pickles, yuck! I completely agree that fries are entirely ruined by the juice. I will 'quarantine' the fries that have touched as well as tear off any parts of the bun that are infected.
You don't like to play hide the pickle?!! LMAO! You make it too easy! LOL!
i really want a hamburger now :)
Sara: I know! I'm usually ok with other things touching my burger (onions lettuce, whatever) because they don't permeate the whole thing. But that pickle juice is pretty virulent...
Otin: No, I think you were stretching it on this one. Besides, if you think some flabby room temp sad excuse for a spear is gonna turn me on, you have got me all wrong buddy. ;)
If you come to visit, I promise no pickles. None. Not even conversation about them. Promise. But I have to admit that I l.o.v.e. them...
I'm with Cyndy. I adore crunchy kosher dill pickes. The sweet ones, not so much. My mouth is watering as I type this...
i can relate. I feel that way about tomotoes. I hate them...they will ruin my meal. When I ask for no tomatoes and they forget (which happens a lot) I almost freak out. I seriously want to stand up and flip the table and shout obscenities to anyone who listen.
I agree, we rarely get pickles like that served in the UK.But whenever I'm in the US I'm like YUCK what is this alien life form on my plate, it looks like something that died and smells like it too. RUN AWAY!!
Fine if you don't like pickles I suppose, but then you are missing out the best field sandwich ever. peanut butter and pickle sandwiches. Yum, Yum Yummy Yum
Kristine: I know, I had one yesterday, sans pickle...it was yummy
Cyndy: my husband loves them too so I have to tolerate them in my house. I'm good with that as long as I don't have to look/smell/touch them. And by all means, I want to visit!
TFM: don't drool too much, it'll ruin your keyboard :P
OP: So you get me! That's awesome. I actually like tomatoes but I won't put any on your plate if you keep pickles away from me...deal?
Spud: I have no idea where this thought that everyone would like a dead cucumber came from. Maybe I just need to move to the UK where everything is wonderful...
iasa: really all I can say is BLECH and GAK!! What a good waste ofpeanut butter!! I love peanut butter and banana sandwiches tho :)
I actually love pickles. I eat the pickles of those who don't like them.
Fun fact: They serve pickles with everything because something in them prevents food poisoning.
You're such a freak RxBambi...really I don't see how we can be blog friends any longer....JK!
I on the other hand love them, HOWEVERRRRRRR I agree they should NOT be served on the same plate as the rest of my food because yes it does make the food mushy and my fries smelly. I love pickles but I don't want my fries to be smelling like them.
I'm with Optimistic...tomatoes is my pet peeve...I hate it in my salad, on my burget...anywhere really. I have this odd thought that they don't wash their veggies in these restaurants and it skeeves me out a bit. Then again god knows what else goes on in those kitchens...ok I'm gonna stop now because I'll never eat out again.
Pickles rule but I understand you.
IQ: In all my over-educated science life I have never heard that pickles have something in them that prevents food poisoning. I'm going to need to see your sources...
LD: Thanks for being understanding of pickle-haters. I'll try to be more tolerant of tomato haters!
I love pickles and I still don't like when the pickle juice is all over my fries, buns, etc. I won't eat those parts either. That is gross!
